Project activities
Ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool for trustworthy AI in Healthcare
It aims to develop an ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool for trustworthy AI in healthcare and therefore contributes to the project’s objective n°1. They will consider ethical implications and impacts on fundamental rights and freedoms, including patients’ autonomy, human dignity, transparency and fairness in healthcare.
The framework and the self-assessment tool integrate knowledge and skills from STEM and SSH, as required by the project’s general objective to provide innovative, integrated and interdisciplinary skills for the digital transition, and directly address the cornerstone of the EU’s digital strategy, revolving around the concepts of trustworthy AI and risk-based assessment approach.
Upskilling of University professors/teachers/researchers involved in training curricula in line with healthcare studies
It aims to provide university professors/teachers/researchers involved in training curricula in line with healthcare studies with the necessary knowledge and skills to foster the adoption of AI in healthcare considering its opportunities and risks and in particular its ethical and legal dimension.
The training modules will be designed considering the existing skills of university professors/teachers/researchers involved in training curricula in line with healthcare studies and will aim at providing them with a comprehensive upskilling revolving around the core topics identified in the ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool elaborated in previous activities.
The university professors/teachers/researchers involved in the training will be in turn able to mainstream the core topics of the ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool to the students and, in perspective, to other university professors, as detailed in the project’s roadmap.
The training modules will be made easily and widely accessible by sharing them on an open platform to boost inclusion.
Ethics by design training modules for university students interested in Healthcare
It aims to provide university students interested in healthcare with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand why the adoption of AI in healthcare opens up many opportunities and at the same time needs to prevent some major risks, in full consideration of its ethical and legal dimension.
The training modules will be designed considering the existing skills/knowledge on trustworthy AI of university students and providing them with interdisciplinary education and upskilling.
It will include all the major topics identified in the ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool developed previously and will be organized in the form of an in-person summer school, to foster active engagement and participation, as well as cross-cultural dialogue among the participating students.
Practical application and exploitation
It aims to exploit and valorize the practical application of the ethics by design framework and self-assessment tool carried out, as well as the results of the upskilling of university professors/teachers/researchers and of the training of university students.
We also aim at defining a strategy for further exploitation of the upskilling of university professors/teachers/researchers and of the training of university students in other university curricula and fields of study where the integration of STEM and SSH is fundamental and knowledge of trustworthy AI is key.
In this way it contributes to the development of innovative learning and teaching practices that involve business-education partnerships and to the development of skills that can facilitate the transition from study to work.
Dissemination and communication
The specific objectives of this activity on communication and dissemination are:
- Reach the highest number of stakeholders and key actors, and provide them with outstanding information, data, and tools in the field of Healthcare.
- Ensure broad exploitation of products developed under the EthicAI4CARE project.
- Open fruitful debates on the current and future challenges of sustainability in the Healthcare field, in the light of its possible improvement and adaptation.
This WP is meant to disseminate the EthicAI4CARE experience towards various stakeholders based in different EU countries.
The purpose is twofold: to resume and extend the discussion on the role and the future of sustainability in the Healthcare field in Europe, which was particularly observed and debated.
